Minds On Physics Internet Modules

A series of modules consisting of a collection of questions designed to target student difficulties with physics concepts and to provide an opportunity for correction and remediation.

The Physics Classroom

A set of instructional pages written in an easy-to-understand language and complemented by graphics and Check Your Understanding sections. An ideal starting location for those grasping for understanding or searching for answers.

Multimedia Physics Studios

A large collection of GIF animations and QuickTime movies designed to demonstrate physics principles in a visual manner. Each animation is accompanied by explanations and links to further information.

The Review Session

A series of reviews ideal for exam preparation. The reviews are organized by topic and accompanied by answers, explanations and (in some cases) links to further information.

Shockwave Physics Studios

A small but useful collection of Shockwave activities. Each activites allows a user to manipulate variables and explore the outcomes of a variety of interactions.

Miscellaneous Help

A variety of question-and-answer pages which target specific concepts and skills. Topics range from the graphical analysis of motion and drawing free body diagrams to a discussion of vectors and vector addition.

Internet Problems

Our physics courses utilize a web-connected database to deliver homework problems to students and to grade their responses. A visiting teacher is certainly welcome to take a peak, but we (and our databases) would appreciate it if you don't invite a class-load of your students to participate. (Thanks.)

The Quiz Room

A collection of quizzes which have been given in a regular-level physics course. Each quiz includes a link to an online resource which provides instruction on the principles targeted by the question. Learning objectives targetted by the quiz are also provided.

The Laboratory

When students miss a lab due to an absence, there is a need for a makeup lab. This section of our site provides directions for countless labs used by students to makeup for missed lab work. In many cases, the labs are to be completed at school using school-owned or school-developed software.

The Project Corner

In the mid to late 1990s, our regular-level physics students were busy doing quarter projects. The projects provided an alternative means of assessing a student's abilities and understanding. The Project Corner emerged on our site to provide directions, links, scoring rubrics, and suggestions. Those original projects have been displaced by other activities. Yet because of their popularity, we have kept them as an online resource.

The Refrigerator

Some of our students put a lot of heart into their quarter projects. They were worthy of being posted on the Refrigerator. And so we asked them to turn them into web pages to serve as exemplars for future students of physics. This section of our site includes the actual written papers for the course's quarter projects.

Extra Credit Counter

One of our early methods of getting students to use our pages was to offer all extra credit opportunities through the net. Our honors-level course used a Question of the Week format. Our regular-level courses used a set of Questions and Problems for every unit.
