**Problem 5: **

A 2845 kg truck moving eastward with a speed of 16.3 m/s collides head on with a 1310 kg van moving westward with a speed of 22.8 m/s. Determine the post-collision velocity of the two vehicles (assuming they stick together and move as a single object).

- Read the problem carefully and diagram the physical situation (collision diagram)
- Identify known and unknown information in an organized manner (list on diagram)
- Take the time to plot out a strategy prior to beginning the solution
- Identify an appropriate formula to use (or use a momentum table)
- Perform step-by-step algebraic manipulations
