Unit 2: Newton's Laws of Motion

Problem Set A

Problem #1:

What net force (in Newtons) would be required to give a mass of 56 kg an acceleration of 6.4m/s/s?

TIP:

Problem 1 involves a routine calculation that utilizes the Newton's second law equation. If you are having difficulty with Problem 1 and have not tried any other problems in the set, then it is strongly suggested that you take some time studying Lessons 1, 2, and 3a of the Newton's Laws of Motion unit at The Physics Classroom. Without the basic understanding of the concepts and mathematics discussed there, the rest of Problem Set A is likely to be very difficult.
