Henderson's Regular Physics Quizzes

(2000-2001 School Year)

Suggestions for this week's quiz (Unit 13 Quiz #1):

This week's quiz on Unit 13 material is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, April 12. The quiz will be a one-page quiz, covering both sides of a single sheet of paper. Students will need a protractor and ruler (of course, they can be purchased for a nominal price). No other helps will be provided nor allowed. Students can expect the following concepts, skills, and problem-types to be assessed on this quiz:

  1. An understanding of the line of sight principle and its importance to viewing an object or an image of an object. (Sublevel 2 of Minds On Physics)
  2. An understanding of the law of reflection and an ability to apply it to an understanding of how light reflects off surfaces (and especially plane mirror surfaces) to form images. (Sublevel 1 of Minds On Physics)
  3. An understanding of what an image is and of how it is formed by reflected light. (Sublevel 2 of Minds On Physics)
  4. An ability to locate the image of an object in a plane mirror and to use a ray diagram to illustrate how an individual at a given location can view the image. (Sublevels 2 and 3 of Minds On Physics)
  5. An ability to demonstrate by means of a ray diagram what portion of a plane mirror would be required to view the image of an object. (Sublevel 3 of Minds On Physics)
  6. Distinguish between diffuse and regular reflection, to explain the cause of each, and to give an application of each. (Sublevel 4 of Minds On Physics)

The quiz is likely to look like activities done in class and in the packet. Hopefully these questions will bear resemblance to previous quizzes and the instructional information at The Physics Classroom. Another source for review information is The Review Session.

Sample Quizzes (Unit 13 Quiz):

There are two sample quizzes currently available on the topics of plane mirrors and spherical mirrors.
