Lesson Plan:

Organization: test comments, grade sheets, return lab notebooks; introduce Chapter 16 - The Fundamentals of Light

Discuss vocabulary: ray model (diagram), luminous vs. illuminated objects; opaque vs. transparent vs. transluscent objects; illuminance (lumens/m2 or W/m2) vs. luminous intensity (lumens or Watts)

Diluted by Distance Lab (with light probes, meter stick and a source)

Homework:

Read Chapter 16, Section 1 (or at least skim it)

WebAssign: start Chapter 16, Section 1 Homework

Suggestions:

Read Chapter 16.1 and begin your WebAssign tonight.

Announcements/Important Info:

WebAssign is due on Wednesday.

This chapter will end in 7 days; there is a test on Tuesday just prior to the PSAE days.

Discuss illuminance and luminous intensity (p. 435); post-lab and introduce the mathematics; discuss the inverse square law; butter spray analogy; page 436, #1, 2, 5, and 6

Read Chapter 16.2 (pp. 439-442)
