Blue (wavelength = 4.6 x 10-7 m) speed = 3 x 108

Cyan (wavelength = 5.0 x 10-7 m) speed = 3 x 108

Violet (wavelength = 4.0 x 10-7 m) speed = 3 x 108

2. A typical light wave has a wavelength of 5.8 x 10-7 m. Determine the frequency of the light if its speed is 3.0 x 108 m/s.

3. A 10 meter radio wave has a speed of 3.0 x 108 m/s, what is its frequency?

4. Microwaves are electromagnetic waves that travel through space at a speed of 3.0 x 108 m/s. Most microwave ovens operate at a frequency of 2450 Mega Hz.

a. Determine the period of these microwaves.

b. Determine the wavelength of these microwaves.

5. Fred wakes up early in the morning. Not wanting to disturb Wilma, he dresses without any additional light. A dark blue light, typical of predawn, illuminates his bedroom. He chooses the following items (or at least they appear to be so): Black right sock, Black left sock, Blue pants, and Blue shirt.

Fred then goes into the kitchen where the sun is just rising. A bright yellow light now shines through the window. In this light his wardrobe appears like this: Black right sock, Red left sock,Red pants, and Green shirt.
